(500) Days of Summer

So I'm little late on this since the movie came out in the summer, but I just got around to watching it. (500) Days of Summer follows in Garden States footstep with that eccentric, indie feel, and I loved it! How adorable is Joseph Gordon-Levitt? I could spend a whole post writing about the movie so I'll stop here. Anyways about the soundtrack now. You know when the main charecters bond over The Smiths while sporting Joy Divison t-shirts and quoting Belle and Sebastian, that there is going to be some good songs here. The songs fit into the movie quite well, but the soundtrack by itself is a bit all over the place. That is exactly the reason I liked it though. It plays just like all the CD's I make, featuring everyone from The Smiths to Hall & Oates. What can I say, I love the 80's! The soundtrack does have some repeat artists on there, but when they're The Smiths and Regina Spekor, I'm not complaining. The soundtrack also introduced me some new artist such as the Black Lips and Temper Trap, whose song "Sweet Despostion," is a definate stand-out. Another pleasent suprise was "Quelqu'un M'a Dit," a heartfelt song by Carla Bruni, the first lady of France. Overall it was a really good listen, mixing old favorites with new songs.
